This eerily reminds me of my prep school days…

I absolutely love this Françoise Hardy song featured in Moonrise Kingdom…can’t get enough of it!
Artist: Françoise Hardy
Song: Le Temps de l’Amour
Album: Moonrise Kingdom Soundtrack / Various Albums
I’ve been a bit of an absentee as of late getting caught up in work and trying to stay cool. Buuut, quite a bit has happened, which I will blog about in due time, but more recently, I did something that I haven’t done in a while…I went to the movies! (at $14 a ticket, this is most definitely a rare treat). This past 4th of July was way too hot to do anything fun outdoors so I instead, I saw Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom. I absolutely LOVED the movie, and the synopsis is as follows:
“Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, Moonrise Kingdom tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore â and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle.”
The movie has an excellent cast including Anderson’s usual Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman wearing a mustache, with some additions like Edward Norton (in a khaki trooper suit), Frances McDormand, Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton (love her!), and newcomers Kara Hayward and Jared Gilman. The soundtrack is awesome including music by Françoise Hardy, and the oh so beautiful sepia toned film has an amazing color palate of washed out reds, blues, tans, and yellows. This movie is a must see and oh so “French New Wave” but American Style. Moonrise Kingdom reminds me a lot of Jean-Luc Godard’s Pierrot le Fou (another must see!) which similarly is about two runaways in love..buuuttt a lot more crazy. Anyway, check out the photo stills and trailer below. Prepare to be in awe of the beautiful cinematography….
